The Road Less Traveled
Walk with us through our 2 year experience as Peace Corps Volunteers in Botswana beginning July 2019- October 2021
What to Expect!
BLOG
Sharing our experience in Botswana is our way of showing our journey through another country's beautiful culture and way of life, as well as our experience in serving to support their country in addressing HIV/AIDS related issues. Peace Corps’ Third Goal: “to promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.” Connecting with people with whom you may never meet to learn more about your global community is important, and we hope to share as much as possible with others!
We are serving as Youth & HIV/AIDS Capacity Building/Youth Life Skills Educators. Our predominant site assignments are within Primary (Elementary) & Junior Secondary (Middle) Schools. We work alongside the Guidance Departments in implementing the Living Curriculum, which addresses wellness (emotional, mental, intellectual, etc.) as well as HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, and support.
We also will be working on secondary projects to support the village of Kanye, Botswana.
We plan on sharing EVERYTHING in the hopes that those reading develop an understanding and appreciation of Botswana, the work being done to address the HIV/AIDS issues the country is facing, as well as laughing (and maybe crying let's not lie) with us in acclimating to our new environment. Remember, we will be learning new cultural norms as well that we will be adjusting to!
